So…. my thoughts for today is that in my research for things like groundsheets, cooking equipment, bits of clothing like hats and such… the army surplus stuff might be a good idea! No idea where to start though. Doing a quick google search it looks like there is a good few army surplus places in the UK but once you start wandering through the virtual shops they seem to tell you what army the stuff is from, swedish, german etc. How am I supposed to know which would have the best quality?
From my limited knowledge of camping equipment – my Vaude German tent is amazing – no complaints, ever. My trangia cookset, same… used for years, still as good as new.
First thoughts… a poncho, a groundsheet, some other bits and pieces would be a good shout – drawn to the Russian Cossack hats for some reason!
Anyone out there with army surplus wisdoms to share – companies, indestructible gear, what to avoid? I’ll keep researching and start sharing any purchases and how the add to the kit list.
